[ user orientation ]

There is a The Kennedy Assassination Homepage that allows the search of the web site and newsgroup archives. There is also a subject index of The Kennedy Assassination Homepage. This latter function is helpful in understanding the architecture of the site. The search functionality does not extend in usefulness though in general searches. As mentioned in the introduction finding information on McAdams himself was futile through the search engines as it must only be metadata that is searched. Metadata is the synopsis of the data on the page decided upon by the designer of the site. When McAdams’ search engine looks for content on a given page it draws from the inserted metadata and not the whole document. The metadata in this instance references only content internal to the site and not exhaustively at that.
